Parker H29 alternative: Bridgestone 4ST and 4ST+
The Parker H29 is a four-spiral high pressure hydraulic hose for demanding applications with dynamic pressure profiles and pressure surges. Van de Calseyde offers two full alternatives via Bridgestone and Intertraco: the 4ST (up to 350 bar) and the 4ST+ (up to 420 bar constant across all sizes).
Both hoses exceed the EN 856 4SH standard. The 4ST+ additionally complies with SAE 100 R15 — a stricter standard than EN 856 4SH, with a 420 bar working pressure across the full size range from -06 to -20.

Note on no-skive: The Parker H29 always requires skiving during assembly. The 4ST and 4ST+ can also be assembled with no-skive fittings — simplifying assembly and reducing the risk of errors.
Note on "ParLock": Parker markets the H29 fitting system as "ParLock". This is simply their brand name for an interlock fitting. Van de Calseyde supplies the same principle under the name Interlock or HP fitting, fully compatible with the 4ST and 4ST+.

The 4ST and 4ST+ are designed for high pressure hydraulic systems under heavy load and extreme pressure surges, such as mobile machinery, construction equipment, industrial presses and injection moulding machines. Compatible with mineral and biological hydraulic oils, polyglycol-based oils, water/oil emulsions and water.

The Bridgestone 4ST and 4ST+ are manufactured by Bridgestone, one of the world's largest tyre and rubber producers, with a strong reputation in rubber and hose technology. Through our partnership with Intertraco, we supply these hoses with fully validated fitting combinations.
The 4ST+ exceeds the SAE 100 R15 standard — stricter than the EN 856 4SH that the Parker H29 meets. In addition, both hoses offer no-skive assembly as an option, which the Parker H29 does not allow.

Is the 4ST or 4ST+ a direct replacement for the Parker H29? Yes, technically. Both are four-spiral high pressure hydraulic hoses exceeding EN 856 4SH. The 4ST+ additionally meets the stricter SAE 100 R15 standard. The main practical difference is the fitting system: the H29 always requires skiving, while the 4ST and 4ST+ are also no-skive compatible.
Which alternative suits my pressure class? For applications up to 350 bar (or sizes -24 and -32), the 4ST is your alternative. For constant pressures up to 420 bar and sizes -06 to -20, the 4ST+ is the better choice.
